I explore humanity through animal form. Always searching for that connective tissue that binds us to one another, I combine these animals with inanimate or abstract objects as a representation of the obscure influences and relationships that shape an individual life. I am fascinated by our innate sense of purpose and the inner work of suffering and redemption.
I believe that every life is precious, and I hope to inspire empathy and compassion through my work.
In practice I work mainly in ceramics, often utilizing found objects, incorporating a high level of detail and layering that often requires a second, closer look. My process involves a great deal of introspection, as well as time outside in the wilderness, writing and observing the natural world and the role of humanity in it.
